The Regimental Volunteer Band of Wisconsin was formed in 1994 by American Civil War living historians and musicians looking to recreate the typical Union Army band in the years 1861 through 1865. Members strive for the look and sound of the army band serving with Western troops of Generals Grant and Sherman during the war between the states. The band plays authentic musical arrangements on original period instruments, and performs at military reenactments, concerts, parades, and and living history demonstrations. The band has been featured at historic sites including Antietam National Battlefield, Mill Springs KY, Gettysburg National Military Park, and at Ulysses Grant's home in Galena IL.
